About this piece

Early divided-back postcard of the M.E. (Methodist Episcopal) Church in Lebanon, Indiana, published by A.B. Jones, postmarked Lebanon, Ind., October 29, 1909. Hand-tinted view of the large rough-cut stone church with its central belfry, round rose windows, Gothic arched entries and a corner tower. Standard 3.5 x 5.5 in, posted. Well-loved condition: rounded and worn corners, cracks/creases at the left side, edge wear, toning and spotting, and the stamp is missing.

Front caption reads "M. E. Church, Lebanon, Ind." with "A. B. Jones, Pub." printed up the right edge. Divided back with "This space is reserved for message" and a K-C style publisher monogram at lower left.

Postmark: Lebanon, Oct 29, 10 AM, 1909. Addressed to Mr. Henry Williams, Brownstown, Illinois, R.F.D. The pencil/ink message, dated about 10-30-09 and addressed "Dear brother", appears to report that Lewis Liles' boy is very seriously sick and that a specialist was brought in from Indianapolis; it is signed Thomas. Good genealogy interest for Lebanon, Indiana and Brownstown, Illinois families.
