About this piece

Printed color postcard of the First Christian Church in Fulton, Missouri, posted from Fulton in 1919. The front shows the large tan brick church with its red-roofed octagonal dome, columned semicircular entrance portico, broad front steps and arched gable window. Divided back, standard 3.5 x 5.5 in. Good vintage condition with light corner and edge wear, minor toning and a full pencil message on the back.

Front caption: "First Christian Church, Fulton, Mo." Back has a light green "Post Card" heading, a faint vertical publisher line at the left edge naming a Fulton, Mo. publisher (name partly legible), a green 1 cent Washington stamp, and a Fulton, Mo. flag machine cancel dated Sep 20, 1919, 9:30 AM.

Pencil message to Miss Marie in Champaign, Illinois, signed "with love, Opal." She mentions waiting for a letter, telegraphing, that "this is where I have attended church service already," that she is "crazy to hear some gossip or news," and asks the rest to write, naming friends Zelda and Jennie. A nice small-town Missouri view with a lively 1919 message for Callaway County, Disciples of Christ and genealogy collectors.
