About this piece
Vintage U.S. Marine Corps booklet "How to Respect & Display Our Flag," about 7.5 x 5.7 inches, with a painted cover of a Marine color guard carrying the American flag and the Marine Corps colors before a crowd. It appears to date from the 1970s. Condition: used, light wear, with a small pencil notation "V.478 50¢" written inside at the top right.
Inside opens with "The Story of the Stars & Stripes," a history of the flag's origins illustrated with painted art of a trumpeting angel and a star-streaked flag, the opening of a booklet devoted, as its title says, to respecting and displaying the flag.
The back cover carries a small recruiting vignette of a Marine before a flag with the slogan "First in the fight, always faithful. Be a U.S. Marine!"
A colorful piece of USMC recruiting and patriotic flag-etiquette literature for Marine Corps, militaria and Americana collectors.
