About this piece
A lot of 6 antique studio portrait photographs from one family collection, early 1900s to 1920s, all in their original folders or card mounts: a large oval-window mount, three folders, a tri-fold folder and a textured mount. Studio marks include Maag, A. Loomis LaPorte and a Malvern studio, and two pieces carry family inscriptions. Overall used with toning and edge wear; the Scudder mount has paper loss along the top of the back and the baby folder has small spots and edge chips.
• Large buff mount with oval window, embossed "Maag," profile of an older woman in a lace collar. Pencil on the back "Great Aunt Kate Scudder." Paper loss along the top back edge.
• Pink folder with swirl-pattern tissue overlay, baby in a white dress. Ink inside "Merry Xmas from - Cornelia S. Mesher(?) - Dec - 1912"; the surname is hard to read. Small spots and a chipped lower corner.
• Brown embossed folder signed "A. Loomis LaPorte," young man with pince-nez glasses.
• Folder c.1918-25, woman with bobbed curls; embossed studio name on the print only partly legible.
• Textured mount c.1920s, young man in a paisley tie; back embossed with a partly legible studio name ending "...INGS, Malvern." Small corner chip.
• Tri-fold folder c.1920s, woman with pearls holding an open book.
A nice small group of early 20th century portrait folders for collectors and genealogy researchers.
