1927 Patent Medicine Print Ad Lot 9 Triner Bitter Wine Gray's Syrup Himrod Quack — photo 1 of 10

About this piece

A group of nine original full-page patent medicine advertisements, carefully removed from a 1927 drugstore almanac. Each page measures about 7.5" x 5.25" inches. Light even toning, with small binding holes along one edge from removal; no tears seen.

Brands included: Triner's American Elixir of Bitter Wine (Joseph Triner Co., Chicago) • Gray's Syrup of Red Spruce Gum (D. Watson & Co., Montreal and New York) • Blackburn's Mentho-Laxene Cough Syrup (Dayton, Ohio) • Knorr's Hien Fong Essence or Green Drops (Knorr Medical Co., Detroit) • Himrod's Asthma Powder (Jersey City, N.J.) • Bulgarian Herb Tea (H. H. Von Schlick, Pittsburgh) • D. D. Jayne & Son's Tonic Vermifuge, Sanative Pills and Jaynex (Philadelphia) • Cushman's Menthol Inhaler (Vincennes, Ind.) • Kellogg's Tasteless Castor Oil (Walter Janvier, New York).

Black-and-white line art pictures the bottles, boxes and packages: Triner's labeled bottle with its exposition medals, Gray's illustrated husband-and-wife scene, Knorr's wrapped bottle with German-language label text, and Cushman's glass inhaler tube.

A strong group for patent medicine bottle collectors, pharmacy and medical history, framing, or junk journals. The cover photo shows all nine pages; each one is also pictured on its own.
